MBS Telehealth Incentive Payments

Please note that all specific telehealth incentives ceased on 30 June 2014. The deadline for submitting claims to DHS is midnight 31 December 2014. There are no changes to telehealth MBS items or Medicare benefits being paid. Visit  MBS Online for further information about the cessation of the incentive program.


The On-Board Incentive for telehealth is now to be paid in two instalments. After your first valid Telehealth MBS claim is processed you will receive the first payment of $1,600 (in 2012-13). After you complete ten valid Telehealth MBS claims, before the end of the Incentive Program, you will receive the second payment of $3,200 (in 2012/13).

As advised previously, the incentive payment steps down again from 1 July 2013 – the payments applicable from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2014 are shown below.

Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF)

Residential aged care facilities may claim a RACF On-Board Incentive once they begin to host patients participating in telehealth consultations. They may also claim a Telehealth Hosting Service Incentive each time they host a telehealth consultation.
